Chaar Natak by Rabindranath Tagore is on Urdu Bazaar

Four translated works of Gurudev Rabindranath Thakur are published in the book of four plays. These compositions are indoors, immersion, red canner and Sesha Raksha. The translation and theatrical conversion has been done by the well-known color-penetrator Pratibha Agarwal. According to him, these translations have a history that spans a period of five decades. It can be felt while reading these plays that translation and transformation have preserved the soul of the original work. Translation is anyway a name like Parikaya Pravesh, then a translation of Gurudev's amazing and full of implications! In the words of Pratibha Agarwal - the translation of Rabindranath's works is like a rigorous examination. Understanding the interpretation of the story, heart-rending it, finding the appropriate vocabulary for it in another language, translating while retaining the author's poise and preserving the beauty of the craft is not courageous but a daring act. Still people keep doing it. The four plays provide enough variation in terms of narrative and craft. Everyone has their own specialties. These are briefly discussed with theatricals. चार नाटक पुस्तक में गुरुदेव रवीन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर की चार अनूदित रचनाएँ प्रकाशित हैं । ये रचनाएँ हैं–घर बाहर, विसर्जन, लाल कनेर और शेषरक्षा । अनुवाद एवं नाट्यरूपान्तर सुप्रसिद्ध रंग–मर्मज्ञ प्रतिभा अग्रवाल ने किया है । उनके अनुसार इन ‘अनुवादों का एक इतिहास है जो पाँच दशकों के कालखंड में फैला हुआ है’ । इन नाटकों को पढ़ते हुए अनुभव किया जा सकता है कि अनुवाद और रूपान्तर ने मूल रचना की आत्मा को सुरक्षित रखा है । अनुवाद वैसे भी परकाया प्रवेश सरीखा नाम है, फिर गुरुदेव की अद्भुत और निहितार्थों से भरी रचनाओं का अनुवाद! प्रतिभा अग्रवाल के शब्दों में–रवीन्द्रनाथ की रचनाओं का अनुवाद कड़ी परीक्षा की तरह होता है । कथ्य के गूढ़ार्थ को समझना, उसे हृदयंगम करना, किसी अन्य भाषा में उसके लिए उपयुक्त शब्दावली पाना, लेखक के कवित्व को बरकरार रखते हुए और शिल्प के सौन्दर्य को सुरक्षित रखते हुए अनुवाद करना साहसपूर्ण नहीं वरन् एक साहसिक काम होता है । फिर भी लोग करते रहते हैं । कथा और शिल्प की दृष्टि से चारों नाटकों में पर्याप्त भिन्नता मिलती है । सबकी अपनी–अपनी विशेषताएँ हैं । नाट्यालेखों के साथ इन पर संक्षिप्त चर्चा की गई है । रंगप्रेमियों के लिए एक संग्रहणीय पुस्तक ।
